Our cats will spend the holidays surrounded by those who like them, in a warm home, with full tummies as well as lots of toys. That’s rather a contrast to exactly how shelter cats will spend their holidays. For them, they’re not going to be any type of different from any type of other day spent waiting on that a person human who will rescue them as well as provide them a permanently home.

Since everybody should have a house for the holidays, Petfinder.com is introducing its annual Foster A Lonely Pet For The holidays program for the third year in a row. The program’s goal is to  empty out animal shelters from Christmas Eve with new Year’s Day.

“Many people do not recognize just exactly how crucial fostering is among the animal welfare community,” stated Betsy Banks Saul, the co-founder of Petfinder.com. “Animal shelters across north america have to euthanize adoptable family pets just since they are overcrowded. However, by fostering, people can provide family pets a location to stay while they wait on their permanently home.”

The goal of the program is to spread understanding about fostering as well as discover momentary houses for adoptable family pets while providing shelter workers as well as volunteers a much-needed break.

If you can foster a shelter feline for the holidays, you can discover a list of participating shelters as well as rescue groups at . personnel as well as volunteers at each organization will be offered to response concerns about the fostering process as well as assist choose a pet who will be a great match for the foster family’s lifestyle.

First produced in 2009, the Foster A Lonely Pet For The holidays program was influenced by Greg Kincaid’s book as well as movie, A pet dog named Christmas, about a young guy who sets out to persuade his neighborhood to take part in a regional animal shelter’s inaugural “Adopt a pet dog for Christmas Program.”

This is such a great concept as well as exactly how terrific for the bad shelter animals. I have been believing about doing it. It will be difficult to make them go back to the shelter, however they would be delighted for a week anyway.
Thanks for telling us about this. I was really contacted by a rescue around here.

I believe it would be difficult to take a foster back to the shelter, Marg. I have so much respect for people who foster – even letting them go to a great house would be difficult when you get emotionally attached.

Please don’t let it stop you from trying though. Take that animal house for Christmas as well as provide it the like as well as interest it so desperately should have as well as needs as well as yes…it will be difficult to take it back but~it will be difficult on us, not them. They are as well as have already been living the “hard time” so I believe we must be hard sufficient to do it for THEM. Hmmm, if somebody cannot bare to part keeping that animal after the holidays then ideal there is a double blessing<3 Reply Leave a Reply Cancel reply Your email address will not be published. needed fields are marked * Comment * Name * Email * By leaving a comment, you agree with the collection of your data by this web site according to our Privacy Policy. * Notify me of followup comments by means of e-mail.
